Another in the Donner Party album series of music videos for the band American Murder Song.
This one was another one-take video, in which we set out to play with the form and color to match the moody and dark song.
In the video the legs of rocking chair just rock back and forth until it’s revealed that its devil hooves rocking the chair. Through the song we change the aspect ratio and slowly ramp in the color. I shot this one with a Black Magic Cinema Camera, and the legs were puppeteered by my good friend Maria Perry. We only did about 3 takes, then brought it into Adobe Premiere for post for adding the lyrics and editing.
